Important Tips

  • Set the strap split first. Anchor the gray strap low at the back of your head, then move the gold strap to the top; the wider the gap between them, the steadier the headgear.
  • Long hair? Thread it through. Passing your hair between the gray and gold straps helps the Solo headgear stay put overnight.
  • Check the seal lying on your side. If air escapes, reposition the cushion under your nose instead of tightening the headgear. Your nose should rest on the cushion, never inside its opening.
  • Assemble the HME in order. Cartridge inside the adapter bottom, adapter top turned down onto it, bottom to the hose, top to the mask. Pick the cartridge up by its plastic, not the foam core.
  • Breathe to begin, or press Power. SleepStart can start therapy when you breathe into the Solo Nasal; if it does not, use the button. Your pressure is set by prescription.
  • Dry the hose before packing. After therapy, press the Drying Mode button: 30 minutes of low-speed airflow dries the hose and attached accessories, then the Micro 510 goes to standby.
  • Hand-wash the Solo Nasal cushion, frame, tube and swivel after each night, and wash the AutoFit headgear every 7 days. Use mild soap in lukewarm water, rinse well and let the parts dry away from direct sun. No alcohol, antiseptics or dishwasher.
  • Change the AirMist cartridge every 3 to 7 days. It cannot be washed. For longer trips, pack spare AirMist HME cartridges (sold separately).
  • Swap the Micro 510 filter every two weeks. Refills: Micro 510 hypoallergenic filters or Micro 510 woven filters (sold separately). Original Micro PureFresh filters do not fit.
  • Hose, muffler and HME adapter: weekly wash, new every 3 months. Our Micro 510 WhisperSoft muffler kit (sold separately) renews the hose and muffler together.
  • New Solo headgear every 6 months. Replacement Solo Nasal headgear is sold separately.
  • Frame, tube, swivel and cushion: 12 months at most from first use. Replace sooner if you see cracks, tears or other wear. Solo Nasal cushions and the Solo tube, frame and swivel are sold separately.
  • Curious about nasal pillows later? The Solo frame and AutoFit headgear also take F&P Solo Pillows cushions, sold separately.
  • Going abroad? Transcend Micro travel adapters (AU, EU and UK plugs, sold separately) are listed for the PSA5 power supply, so check the label on your adapter first.
  • Optional, sold separately: the Transcend SleepPak travel bag holds the machine and accessories; it is not part of this bundle.

Therapy From Your Seat

The Micro 510 meets FAA requirements for use on board. Once it is plugged in, switch it to airplane mode with the Bluetooth button (the light turns white) and begin therapy with the Power button. Ask your airline whether the machine counts against your carry-on allowance; for some carriers, medical devices do not.

Nose Breather or Mouth Breather?

The Solo Nasal seals around the nose only, so it works best when you breathe freely through your nose. Why choose the Micro 510 version of the Solo Nasal bundle?

For the extras around the same mask: four machine colors, a 3-year machine warranty (2 years on the original Micro), and a hard shell case plus an AirMist HME packed in the Micro 510 box. If you can skip those, the original Micro version with the Solo Nasal costs less.

Which filter should I use in the Micro 510, woven or hypoallergenic?

Both fit only the Micro 510. The standard woven filter screens normal household dust and pollen, and the premium hypoallergenic filter catches finer particles. Check it every week and change it every two weeks, or sooner in dusty or smoky rooms.

Does the Solo Nasal headgear come in sizes?

No. The AutoFit headgear is one size, and F&P designed it to fit about 95% of people. Only the cushion comes in Small, Medium, Large or Wide.

Does the AirMist HME from the Micro 510 box work with the Solo Nasal?

Yes. The HME adapter goes between the hose and the mask: its bottom half attaches to the hose and its top half to the Solo Nasal. Swap in a fresh cartridge after 3 to 7 days; cartridges cannot be cleaned.

Can I take the Solo Nasal apart to clean it on a trip?

Partly. Unclip the front of the headgear from the frame and pull the cushion off the frame to wash them. Leave the tube and swivel attached to the frame, because removing them can affect how the mask works.

Does the Solo Nasal work at every pressure the Micro 510 can deliver?

Yes. F&P rates the Solo Nasal for 4 to 20 cm H2O, which matches the full Micro 510 range. Your pressure comes from your prescription.

How do I tighten or loosen the Solo Nasal without side straps?

Push the cushion gently toward your nose to tighten the fit, and pull it away to loosen it. For a steadier hold, widen the split between the gray strap low on the back of your head and the gold strap on top.

Is the Solo Nasal hard to set up the first time?

Not for most people F&P tested: 93% of 91 US participants rated the Solo setup simple or very simple. Put the headgear on with the gold strap on top, then settle the cushion under your nose.
