ResMed AirFit Masks Compared: Every Model Explained (2026)

ResMes CPAP Masks

Reviewed by Lilly Perez, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at Sleeplay.

ResMed makes ten different AirFit masks, and the names alone don't tell you much. F20 or F40? N30 or N30i? Here's every current AirFit model compared side by side: what each one is, who it fits, and how to pick yours in the next ten minutes.

Full face masks cover your nose and mouth. Nasal masks sit over or cradle your nose. Nasal pillow masks rest right at your nostrils. Every AirFit model falls into one of those three groups, and once you know which group fits your breathing and sleep style, picking the specific model gets a lot easier.

Ready to see them all side by side? Browse every model in our ResMed collection before you dig into the details below.

AirFit P30i Nasal pillows Pillows at the nostrils Top of head Not on ResMed's magnet list Pillow fans who toss and turn $115

Prices reflect our catalog at the time of writing and can shift, so double-check the product page before you buy. The magnets column in the above table comes straight from ResMed's own magnet guidance [2], confirmed against the FDA's safety communication on the same masks [3].

2. How to Decode ResMed's Mask Names

The letters in a ResMed mask name are a code. F means full face, N means nasal, P means nasal pillows, X is the oral-nasal hybrid, and a lowercase i means the tube connects at the top of your head instead of the front. Once you know that, the whole lineup reads itself.

ResMed groups its current lineup into three categories: Minimalist masks use the fewest parts and the smallest footprint, Freedom masks route the tube over your head so it stays out of your way, and Versatile Fit masks are built to work across the widest range of faces and pressures [1]. The letter tells you where the mask seals; the number is the generation; the i means top-of-head tubing; and a for Her version uses the same cushion with smaller headgear in a different colorway.

AirFit uses silicone cushions, while its sibling line, AirTouch, swaps in memory foam or fabric on the same frames. If you're deciding between the two families, our AirTouch vs AirFit comparison breaks that down in full. And if you already know you want foam, you can go straight to the AirTouch collection.

3. Full Face AirFit Masks Compared

Five full face options, from the proven F20 to the hybrid X30i. If you breathe through your mouth due to nasal congestion or run a high pressure, your mask lives in this section.

3.1. AirFit F20 (the Benchmark)

The AirFit F20 is ResMed's proven, go-to full-face mask for back sleepers, and the AirSense 10 is usually the safest starting point if you breathe through your mouth or need high-pressure settings.

See current sizes and pricing for the AirFit F20. Its cushion sits below the eyes on a bridge-free frame, so it adapts to a wide range of face shapes without pressing on the bridge of your nose. A smaller-frame AirFit F20 for Her uses the same cushion with headgear built for a smaller face. For a deeper look at fit, noise, and long-term comfort, read our full AirFit F20 review.

3.2. AirFit F30i (Tube on Top)

The AirFit F30i pairs an under-the-bridge cushion with tubing that connects at the top of your head, which makes it one of the few full face masks that actually works for side sleepers.

ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face CPAP Mask

Because there's no tube pulling at your chin, it also tends to feel less closed-in if you get claustrophobic in a traditional full face mask. See the AirFit F30i for current sizing, and read our AirFit F30i review for a full breakdown of the fit. Worth knowing: the older front-tube AirFit F30 is no longer part of ResMed's current lineup, so if you're replacing one, the F30i is the direct successor.

"Me specifically, I do like this mask very much. This is something that I use myself."

3.3. AirFit F40 (the Compact One)

The AirFit F40 is ResMed's newest and smallest full face mask, built to sit close to your face without adding the bulk older full face masks are known for.

*Change every 6 Months
ResMed AirFit F40 Full Face CPAP Mask

It's also magnet-free, which matters if you or your partner has an implanted device (more on that in the magnets section below). One heads-up from hands-on reviews: some F40 configurations sell the headgear separately from the mask, so check exactly what's included before you check out. See the AirFit F40 product page for current pricing, and our roundup of the best full face CPAP masks places it against the rest of the field.

"I scored this mask a 9 out of 10... I'm a tough critic."

3.4. AirFit X30i (the Oral-Nasal Hybrid)

The AirFit X30i is the newest category in the AirFit family: a hybrid that seals your mouth and under your nose without ever touching the bridge, with the tube routed over the top of your head.

"Sort of what you get if the F30i and the P30i had a love child."

— Uncle Nicko, CPAP Reviews

3.5. AirFit F10 (the Classic Still on Sale)

The AirFit F10 predates ResMed's current lineup, and you won't find it listed on ResMed's own mask page anymore.

We still stock it because plenty of long-time users want a like-for-like replacement when ordering their CPAP supplies rather than a whole new mask to get used to. Think of it as continuity, not a mask we'd recommend as anyone's first full face option. See the AirFit F10 for current availability, and read our AirFit F10 review for the details.

4. Nasal AirFit Masks Compared

Nasal is the middle path: more coverage than pillows, less than full face. The three current models split by where the cushion sits and where the tube comes out.

4.1. AirFit N20 (Fits Almost Every Face)

The AirFit N20 is ResMed's versatile-fit champion, compatible with the AirSense 11, and it's usually the safest first nasal mask to try for back sleepers who aren't sure what they need yet.

Its cushion covers the nose rather than cradling under it, which tends to give a more forgiving seal across a wider range of face shapes. See the AirFit N20, also our most affordable AirFit at just $74, which is worth factoring in if price is part of your decision. An AirFit N20 for Her version uses a smaller headgear for a smaller face. If your face runs on the smaller or narrower side, or you've had trouble sealing other nasal masks, the N20 is the one to try before ruling nasal masks out entirely.

4.2. AirFit N30 (Under-the-Nose Cradle)

The AirFit N30 is the minimalist cradle in the lineup, and it never touches the bridge of your nose at all.

See the AirFit N30 if you want that same open, uncovered feeling as nasal pillows but with a bit more surface area for stability. It's also one of the quieter options in the lineup and a favorite among AirMini travelers.

4.3. AirFit N30i (Tube on Top)

The AirFit N30i takes the same under-nose cradle as the N30 and moves the tube to the top of your head, which is the better pick if you move around a lot at night.

It shares a mask frame with the P30i, so the cushions actually swap between the two if your needs change later. See the AirFit N30i starter pack, and read our AirFit N30i review for the full breakdown.

5. Nasal Pillow AirFit Masks Compared

5.1. AirFit P10 (the Quiet Favorite)

The AirFit P10 is the lightest mask in the entire AirFit lineup, and among the quietest, with minimal contact that a lot of people forget they're even wearing.

"It's the most popular mask we have... it's little."

— Lily Perez, Registered Respiratory Therapist, Sleeplay

See the AirFit P10, or the smaller-fit AirFit P10 for Her. Read our AirFit P10 review for the full hands-on take. One honest limit worth knowing: at higher pressures, pillows can get less comfortable than a full face or nasal cushion, and that's a conversation to have with your provider rather than something we'd paper over. If you're new to pillows, our guide on how to breathe with CPAP nasal pillows covers the exhale technique that makes the adjustment period a lot shorter.

5.2. AirFit P30i (Pillows, Tube on Top)

The AirFit P30i takes the same pillow concept as the P10 and moves the hose off your chest and over your head instead.

"If you're one that moves around a lot like myself, you do alligator death rolls... this is the way to go. You get the tubing out of your face, out of the way, and you're good to go."

— James Curles, Sleep Coach, Sleeplay

See the AirFit P30i starter pack. It shares its frame with the N30i, so if pillows ever feel like too much contact, switching to that cradle cushion is a simple swap rather than a whole new mask.

7. Magnets and Implants: What to Check First

Some AirFit masks hold their headgear together with magnetic clips. If you or your bed partner has a pacemaker, defibrillator, or another implanted metallic device, this is the first thing to check, not the last.

  • ResMed's own magnet guidance [2] lists the AirFit F20, F30, F30i, N10, and N20 (plus the AirTouch F20 and N20) among masks with magnetic headgear clips, and instructs keeping mask magnets at least 6 inches (150 mm) away from any implant that magnets can affect.
  • The FDA's safety communication [3] on these same masks names the affected models and flags the implant types at risk, including pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and neurostimulators.
  • The F40, X30i, N30, N30i, P10, and P30i don't appear on ResMed's magnet list, which makes them the natural starting point if you or someone in your household has an implanted device. Still, confirm the user guide of any mask before buying, and for the full implant-safe walkthrough, our guide to CPAP masks for patients with defibrillators or pacemakers covers what else to check.

One note on the F10 above: it predates ResMed's current guidance list, but its own user guide confirms the headgear uses magnetic clips as well, so treat it the same as the other magnetic models here.

"If you have a pacemaker, implanted medical device, or any condition where magnets could be an issue, make sure to choose a magnet-free mask."

— Gabriel, Sleeplay

8. Getting the Size Right

The wrong size causes more mask failures than the wrong model. Two rules cover most of it: measure where the mask actually seals, and never fix a leak by cranking the straps tighter.

  • Run the no-tighten fit test: fit the mask while lying down, the way you'll actually sleep in it, and leave the straps loose enough to slide a finger underneath.
  • Know your family's sizing quirk: full face sizes are measured under your nose, not across your mouth, and pillow masks usually ship with multiple pillow sizes in the same box so you can test-fit at home.

"If you find yourself cranking the headgear... it's likely too big."

— Daniel Feldman, Sleeplay

If you'd rather test sizes at home than guess, our mask fit packs let you try more than one size before committing to a full mask.

FAQs

Which ResMed AirFit mask is the best?

There is no single best. The F20 is the proven full face all-rounder, the P10 is the lightest and quietest entry point, and the N20 fits the widest range of faces. Start from how you sleep and breathe: mouth breathers need the F-series, X30i, or a chin strap, while side and stomach sleepers do best with the tube-up i-series.

What do the ResMed mask names mean?

The letter indicates the seal style: F is full face, N is nasal, P is nasal pillows, and X is the oral-nasal hybrid. The number is the generation, and a lowercase i means the tube connects at the top of the head instead of the front. For Her versions, the same cushion is used with a smaller headgear.

Which AirFit masks have magnets?

The AirFit F20, F30, F30i, N10, and N20 (plus the AirTouch F20 and N20) include magnetic headgear clips. The F40, X30i, N30, N30i, P10, and P30i do not. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted device, choose from the second group and keep any magnetic clips at least 6 inches away.

What is the difference between AirFit and AirTouch?

The difference is the cushion. AirFit uses silicone, which is durable, washable, and firmer. AirTouch uses memory foam or fabric on the same frames, which is softer on the skin but needs to be replaced more frequently. The frames and headgear are shared, and several cushions swap between the two families.

Which AirFit masks work with the AirMini?

The AirFit P10, N20, F20, and N30 are AirMini-compatible. The tube-up models (F30i, N30i, P30i), the F40, and the X30i are not compatible unless you use a third-party adapter, which ResMed does not officially support.

Which AirFit mask is best for side sleepers?

The i-series is the best choice for side sleepers: the F30i for full face coverage, the N30i for nasal, and the P30i for pillows. All three route the hose over the top of your head so it never ends up under your shoulder when you turn.

What are common issues with AirFit masks?

The most common issues are mask leaks from oversized cushions or overtightened straps, red marks or pressure marks on the skin, and dryness. Almost all of these trace back to fit rather than the mask model itself. Adjusting cushion size and strap tension resolves the majority of complaints.

What is the 4-hour rule for CPAP?

Medicare defines adherence as using your PAP device at least 4 hours per night on 70% of nights during a consecutive 30-day period within the first three months of therapy. Falling short can result in denial of continued machine coverage. Choosing a comfortable mask is the single biggest factor in meeting this requirement.

Conclusion

Ten masks sounds like a lot until you sort them by what actually matters to you: how you sleep, how you breathe, and whether magnets are off the table. If you haven't picked yet, find your row in the table above and go with that pick.

Every mask on this list is covered by our 60-night guarantee, so comfort isn't a gamble even if the first fit isn't quite right. Browse the full CPAP masks collection whenever you're ready to compare them side by side.
