Overview

We built the Mirage FX for nasal breathers who want a lightweight mask with almost no plastic touching their face. The dual-wall Spring Air cushion is the only part that contacts your skin at the nasal bridge, and the flexible "butterfly wing" forehead support keeps the frame's plastic off your forehead too.

This open design leaves your field of view clear, so it works well if you read, watch TV, or wear glasses before bed. The SoftEdge fabric headgear is soft against the skin and reduces the red marks and pressure points that stiffer straps can leave behind.

The Mirage FX is the predecessor of our AirFit nasal mask line, and it covers a therapy pressure range of 4 to 20 cm H2O. It comes in Standard and Wide cushion sizes, it has no magnetic clips, and it is not made with natural rubber latex. A prescription is required.

Only four parts make up the complete mask: frame, cushion, headgear, and elbow, so taking it apart to clean is quick. If you use a magnet-free nasal mask because of a medical implant, the Mirage FX is a fit worth considering with your care team.

Guide and Resources

Important Tips

  • Take the Standard or Wide cushion sizing into account before ordering: Wide is shallower for a shorter nasal bridge, not larger for a wider face.
  • Rinse the cushion daily with warm water and a mild soap, or use CPAP mask wipes to keep facial oils from breaking down the seal.
  • Wash the SoftEdge headgear weekly with mild CPAP soap and let it air dry before you use it again.
  • Order a replacement Mirage FX cushion when it starts losing its seal, and a replacement headgear when the fabric stretches out.
  • If you're moving to the AirMini, connect this mask with the Zephair tube adapter and a standard CPAP hose.
  • If you wake up with dry skin or red marks around your nose, apply CPAP skin moisturizer before putting the mask on.
  • Inspect the cushion, frame, and elbow connection before bed for wear that could lead to mask leaks.

What’s Included

Everything you need to know about the Mirage FX

Almost No Plastic on Your Skin

The only parts that touch your face are the soft silicone cushion and the fabric headgear. The frame's forehead support is built so its plastic never contacts your skin, which cuts down on pressure marks overnight.

Open View for Reading or Glasses

The slim, minimal frame stays out of your sightline, so you can read, watch TV, or keep your glasses on before you fall asleep. It also leaves more room if you have facial hair.

Magnet-Free for Medical Implants

This mask uses clip and headgear fasteners instead of magnets, so there is nothing magnetic near your face. If you have a medical implant, ask your care team whether a magnet-free mask fits your situation.

Spring Air Cushion That Moves With You

The dual-wall Spring Air cushion inflates with airflow and holds its seal as you shift positions overnight. It flexes gently at the nasal bridge instead of pressing in with a tight fit.

SoftEdge Headgear That's Gentle on Skin

The form-fitting SoftEdge headgear is fabric, not stiff strapping, so it reduces the red lines and irritation that harder headgear can leave. It fastens with hook-and-loop tabs for an easy, adjustable fit.

One-Handed Elbow for Fast Disconnects

The squeeze-tab elbow lets you detach your hose with one hand, without tugging on your headgear or resetting your fit. It swivels too, so the tube doesn't drag on the mask overnight.

Quiet Enough for a Shared Bed

The diffused vent spreads exhaled air gently instead of venting it in one direction, which keeps the mask quiet for you and anyone sleeping next to you.

Simple to Take Apart and Clean

Only four parts make up the complete mask: cushion, frame, headgear, and elbow. That keeps daily rinsing and weekly cleaning fast, without extra tools or hidden pieces.

Standard and Wide Sizing

The Standard cushion fits most nasal bridges. The Wide cushion is shallower, not physically larger, and is built for a shorter nasal bridge. Picking the right one comes down to your bridge length, not your overall face size.

Works With Nearly Any CPAP or BiLevel Machine

The Mirage FX connects to standard CPAP and BiLevel tubing, so it isn't locked to one machine brand. For the ResMed AirMini, you'll need a Zephair tube adapter and a standard CPAP hose to connect it.

Latex-Free Materials

The Mirage FX is not made with natural rubber latex, which matters if you have a latex sensitivity or allergy.

A Predecessor to Our AirFit Nasal Masks

The Mirage FX came before the AirFit nasal line and introduced several of the design ideas that line still uses today, including the low-contact cushion and flexible forehead support.

Find my Perfect Mask ResMed Mirage FX Nasal CPAP Mask

FAQs

Do I need a prescription for the ResMed Mirage FX?

Yes. This is a prescription CPAP mask, like all nasal masks used with CPAP or BiLevel therapy.

What's the difference between the Standard and Wide cushion sizes?

The Wide cushion is shallower than Standard, not physically bigger. It is built for people with a shorter nasal bridge, so choosing a size comes down to bridge length rather than how wide your face is.

What is the Spring Air cushion?

It's a dual-wall silicone cushion that inflates with airflow to distribute pressure evenly and hold its seal as you move during sleep. It's the only part of the mask that contacts skin at the nasal bridge.

How does the forehead support avoid touching my skin?

The frame has a flexible "butterfly wing" forehead support that flexes with your movement without letting its plastic touch your forehead. Only the cushion and the fabric headgear make skin contact.

Is the Mirage FX magnet-free?

Yes. It fastens with clips and hook-and-loop headgear rather than magnets, which makes it an option to discuss with your care team if you have a medical implant.

Can I use the Mirage FX with the ResMed AirMini?

Yes, with a Zephair tube adapter and a standard CPAP hose. It doesn't connect to the AirMini directly out of the box.

How do I clean the Mirage FX?

Rinse the cushion daily with warm water and a mild soap, and wash the headgear weekly, letting it air dry. The mask breaks down into four parts (cushion, frame, headgear, elbow), so cleaning each piece is straightforward.

Is the Mirage FX still a current ResMed mask?

It's an earlier-generation nasal mask and the predecessor of our AirFit nasal line. We keep the complete mask and its parts in stock, so it remains a supported option.

What's included with the complete mask?

The complete mask ships with the frame, the Spring Air cushion in your chosen size, the SoftEdge headgear, and the elbow assembly.

Will the Mirage FX work with my CPAP machine?

It connects to standard CPAP and BiLevel tubing, so it works with nearly any CPAP or BiLevel machine that uses a standard hose.
