Overview

If silicone against your skin has never felt quite right, the ResMed AirTouch F40 gives you the small, under-the-nose F40 design with fabric where the mask meets your face. Its ComfiSoft cushion blends breathable fabric with flexible silicone, so it feels gentle and still adapts to the shape of your face.

Nothing presses on the bridge of your nose, and the curved frame stays below your eyes, so reading, watching TV, or putting on glasses before bed feels normal. When you need to get up at night, you can unclip the hose and leave the mask on.

The AirTouch F40 is built on the same compact design as the AirFit F40, and the two masks share interchangeable cushions. A prescription is required for this complete mask. It contains magnets, so please read the magnet warning in the specifications if you have an implant or medical device.

Guide and Resources

Important Tips

  • Fit it in this order: Unclip the lower straps from the frame and place the cushion under your nose so it rests against your face. With the ResMed logo facing up, pull the headgear over your head, bring the lower straps behind your ears, and reattach them with the magnetic clips.
  • Adjust the top before the bottom: Tighten the upper straps first, then the lower bands, until the fit is snug. If you still notice air escaping, try our practical fixes for CPAP mask leaks.
  • Route long hair through the back: Feed your hair through the back of the headgear. If you wear a ponytail, it should sit high enough to pass through the back of the headgear.
  • Check the magnet warning if you have an implant: This mask contains magnets that may interfere with certain implants or medical devices. Read the magnet contraindications in the User Guide, see CPAP masks for patients with defibrillators or pacemakers, and browse full face CPAP masks without magnets if you need one.
  • Replace each part on its own schedule: The recommended US schedule, which reflects Medicare's accessory schedule, is the cushion every month, the frame system every 3 months, and the headgear every 6 months. Reorder the ComfiSoft cushion, the frame system, or the F40 headgear separately.
  • Pack a different mask for AirMini trips: The AirTouch F40 is not compatible with the AirMini, so plan on another mask if you travel with that machine.

Everything you need to know about the AirTouch F40

Fabric Comfort Where the Mask Touches You

The ComfiSoft cushion combines breathable fabric with flexible silicone, designed to gently adapt to your face. If bare silicone has felt harsh on your skin, this gives you a fabric surface in a compact, under-the-nose design.

No Pressure on the Bridge of Your Nose

The cushion sits unobtrusively under your nose instead of over it, so there are no pressure points on your nasal bridge. It is a full face mask that stays off the part of your face that tends to get sore.

Read, Watch TV, and Wear Glasses in Bed

The curved, flexible frame sits below your eyeline, so your view stays open. Wind down with a book, a show, or your glasses on, then fall asleep without taking anything off.

Get Up at Night Without Removing the Mask

A quick-release elbow lets you connect and disconnect from therapy without taking the mask off. Unclip the hose for a trip out of bed, then click it back in and keep your fit exactly where you left it.

Quiet for You and Your Bed Partner

QuietAir venting is designed to keep your sleep environment comfortable and quiet for both of you. The vent is part of the cushion, so it is renewed every time you replace the cushion.

Stays Steady When You Change Positions

A short, flexible tube reduces the drag and movement that hose pull can cause, helping the mask stay stable as you turn. Soft headgear with adjustable sidebands holds it in place. Compare more CPAP masks for side sleepers.

The Compact AirFit Design, Now in Fabric

The AirTouch F40 is built on the UltraCompact design of the AirFit F40. The AirFit F40 uses a silicone cushion; the AirTouch F40 uses a fabric ComfiSoft cushion. Our AirTouch vs. AirFit guide walks through the choice.

One Cushion for the AirTouch and AirFit

The AirTouch F40 cushion is interchangeable with the AirFit F40 cushion, which makes it simpler to move between fabric and silicone in the F40 family. When it is time for a fresh one, order the AirTouch F40 ComfiSoft cushion on its own.

Lower Straps That Clip Right Into Place

The lower straps attach to the frame with magnetic clips, so you can release them, settle the cushion under your nose, and reattach without fumbling. Because the mask contains magnets, read our guide for patients with defibrillators or pacemakers first.

A Fit Range Built for Many Faces

The AirTouch F40 has a wide fit range, with cushion sizes from Small-Wide to Large and headgear from Small to Large. Not sure where you land? Our CPAP mask sizing guide helps you choose.

Another Fabric Choice in Our AirTouch Lineup

The AirTouch F40 joins the AirTouch F30i as a fabric AirTouch mask. Choose the F40 if you want the AirFit F40 design with a cushion that swaps between both F40 masks. See every option in our ResMed AirTouch masks collection.

FAQs

Do I need a prescription to buy the ResMed AirTouch F40?

Yes. The AirTouch F40 complete mask requires a valid prescription.

Is there a ResMed AirTouch F40?

Yes. The AirTouch F40 is a ResMed full face mask built on the UltraCompact design of the AirFit F40, with a fabric ComfiSoft cushion that sits under the nose. It is a lightweight, minimalist mask engineered with fabric for comfort.

What is the difference between the AirTouch F40 and the AirFit F40?

The cushion. The AirTouch F40 uses a ComfiSoft cushion that combines breathable fabric with flexible silicone, while the AirFit F40 uses a silicone cushion. The AirTouch F40 is built on the AirFit F40 design, the cushions are interchangeable, and both masks use the same headgear part numbers.

How is the AirTouch F40 different from the AirTouch F30i?

Both are fabric AirTouch masks. The AirTouch F40 is the one built on the AirFit F40 design, with an under-the-nose cushion that is interchangeable with the AirFit F40 cushion, a quick-release elbow, and a short, flexible tube. Compare both on their product pages before you choose.

What comes with the AirTouch F40 complete mask?

You get the mask frame, the elbow assembly, the ComfiSoft cushion, a short tube, and headgear with magnetic clips. Cushion and headgear sizes depend on the option you select.

Does the AirTouch F40 have magnets?

Yes. This mask contains magnets that may interfere with certain implants or medical devices. Please refer to the User Guide for complete labeling information, including magnet contraindications and warnings. If that applies to you, consider a full face mask without magnets.

Is the ResMed F40 a nasal pillow mask?

No. The AirTouch F40 is a full face mask. Its cushion sits under your nose rather than over the bridge, which keeps it minimal without being a nasal pillow design.

Is the AirTouch F40 good for side sleepers?

It has features that help when you move. The short, flexible tube reduces drag from the hose for a stable fit as you change positions, and the soft headgear has adjustable sidebands. Fit still varies from person to person, so choose the size that matches your face.

Can I wear glasses or watch TV with the AirTouch F40?

Yes. The curved, flexible frame sits below your eyeline, so you can read, watch TV, or wear glasses while wearing the mask.

Does the AirTouch F40 work with the ResMed AirMini?

No. The AirTouch F40 is not compatible with the AirMini.

What sizes does the AirTouch F40 come in?

Cushions come in Small-Wide, Medium, and Large, and headgear comes in Small, Standard, and Large. The complete mask is offered as Small-Wide, Medium, or Large cushion with Standard headgear, plus Medium cushion with Small or Large headgear.

How often should I replace the AirTouch F40 cushion and parts?

The recommended US schedule, which reflects Medicare's accessory schedule, is the cushion every month, the frame system every 3 months, and the headgear and complete mask every 6 months. That schedule outlines the usual maximum expected to be reasonable and necessary, not a required interval.
