CPAP humidifiers add warm moisture to your airflow, so you wake up with less dry nose, mouth, and throat. Integrated, standalone, and replacement water chambers

Buyers mix these up, so here is the short version. An integrated humidifier is built into the machine, like ResMed's HumidAir in the AirSense 11 and AirSense 10, or the humidifier in the Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle. A standalone heated humidifier is a separate unit for machines that did not come with one, like the Philips DreamStation heated humidifier. A replacement water chamber (also called a tub) is the small tank that holds the water and clips into the humidifier. Most people are here for a replacement chamber, and the one you need depends on your machine.

How often to replace your water chamber

Plan on a new water chamber about every six months, and sooner if you see cloudiness, cracks, or mineral scale that will not wash off. A worn chamber can leak or grow buildup, so replacing it on schedule keeps your humidification clean and consistent.

What water to use

Use distilled water, not tap water. Tap water leaves mineral deposits that build up inside the chamber, while distilled water keeps it clear. Spring, purified, and bottled drinking water still contain minerals, so they are not substitutes. Shop distilled water for CPAP in bottle packs or a refillable pitcher.

Cleaning your humidifier and chamber

Empty the chamber each morning, let it air-dry during the day, and wash it weekly with mild soap and warm water. Distilled water is not a disinfectant, so a regular cleaning routine is what keeps mold and bacteria down. Find brushes, wipes, and soaps in our CPAP cleaning supplies.

Rainout and condensation in the hose
