Vertical force is generated by bands that raise from under the jaw and attach at the temples. Unlike ordinary neoprene chin straps, which wrap around the tip of the chin and force the jaw into the jaw joint, this one wraps around the tip of the chin and pushes the jaw directly into the jaw joint. The natural rotation of the jaw is used in the vertical lift.

The Knightsbridge Dual Band is made up of 22 separate components and is made up of 6 fabrics plus Velcro. To deliver the vertical lift and compound elastic-non elastic pressure functions while still being pleasant, all six materials and the whole cap design are required.
