"Ria was extremely helpful in placing my order. I was overwhelmed by shopping online, but her attention to detail and thorough answers to my questions were impressive. I will be so relieved when my order arrives. I’ve been using a CPAP for 9 years, and when my old unit stopped working, it made for a rough few nights without it."

FAQs

How loud is the ResMed AirSense 11?

The AirSense 11 runs at about 27 decibels, which is quieter than a whisper and close to the sound of rustling leaves. Most users say it's virtually silent from across the room and barely noticeable next to the bed, even for light sleepers or partners sharing the room. The low noise comes from ResMed's motor design and the enclosed humidifier chamber, which also helps dampen sound. If you want it even quieter, using ClimateLineAir 11 heated tubing reduces rainout noise from condensation, and placing the machine on a stable, flat surface (not carpet) helps too. Compared to older CPAP machines, which could run closer to 30+ dB, the AirSense 11 is one of the quieter options on the market today.

Do I need a prescription to buy the AirSense 11?

Yes, the AirSense 11 requires a valid prescription because it's an FDA-regulated medical device used to treat obstructive sleep apnea. You'll need a sleep study (in-lab or home sleep test) and a prescription from a physician or sleep specialist before purchasing. Sleeplay is an authorized ResMed dealer, so once we have your prescription on file, we can process your order and ship your machine. If you don't have a prescription yet, we can walk you through what's needed, including how home sleep testing works if you haven't been diagnosed. The AirSense 11 is also FSA and HSA eligible, so you can often use pre-tax health dollars to cover part or all of the cost.

What's EPR on the AirSense 11 and how does it help?

EPR stands for Expiratory Pressure Relief, and it automatically lowers the air pressure slightly every time you exhale, making it easier and more natural to breathe out against the airflow. You can set EPR to Off, 1, 2, or 3, with higher numbers giving more pressure drop on the exhale. This is one of the most commonly adjusted comfort settings for new CPAP users, since exhaling against full pressure is often the hardest part of adjusting to therapy. EPR works alongside AutoRamp, which starts your session at a lower pressure and gradually increases it once the machine detects you've fallen asleep, so most people find the combination makes it much easier to fall asleep with the mask on.

Does the AirSense 11 have a built-in humidifier?

Yes, the AirSense 11 comes with an integrated HumidAir 11 humidifier built right into the machine, with a 380 mL water chamber that typically lasts through the night. The humidifier adds moisture to the airflow to prevent the dry mouth, dry nose, and irritation that can happen with CPAP therapy, especially in dry climates or during winter. For even better comfort, you can pair it with ResMed's ClimateLineAir 11 heated tubing and turn on Climate Control Auto, which automatically adjusts heat and humidity levels based on room temperature to reduce condensation (also called rainout) inside the tube. You'll want to refill the chamber with distilled water each night and clean it weekly to keep it working properly.

Can I travel with the AirSense 11 or use it on a plane?

Yes, the AirSense 11 is FAA-compliant for in-flight use, so you can use it during a flight, and as a medical device it doesn't count against your carry-on limit. It weighs about 2.5 lbs with the humidifier attached, so while it's not as ultra-compact as a dedicated travel CPAP, it's still manageable for regular trips. The machine also automatically adjusts to altitude changes up to 9,870 feet, so your therapy pressure stays accurate whether you're at sea level or in the mountains. If you're a frequent traveler and want something smaller and lighter specifically built for travel, a dedicated travel CPAP like the Transcend Micro 510 might be a better fit alongside or instead of the AirSense 11.

What is the myAir app and how does it work with the AirSense 11?

The myAir app connects to your AirSense 11 over Bluetooth or cellular and gives you a nightly therapy score along with data like how many hours you used the machine, your mask seal quality, and how many events occurred per hour. It also includes coaching tips and a Care Check-In setup guide to help troubleshoot common issues like mask leaks or discomfort in the first few weeks of therapy. If your doctor prescribed the AirSense 11, your sleep clinician can also access your data remotely through ResMed's AirView platform, so they can adjust your treatment without needing an in-person visit for every check-in. It's one of the most useful tools for staying motivated and catching problems early.
