The Somnofit-S is a mandibular advancement device (MAD) designed to reduce snoring by moving the lower jaw forward to help keep the airway open during sleep. It does not require hoses, machines, or electricity; the adjustment is mechanical.

The guard is made in Switzerland using biomedical-grade polymers that are free from latex, silicone, BPA, phthalates, and harsh chemicals. It comes with five elastic straps that allow selecting the level of jaw advancement. It includes small, medium, and large cushion fit options, and the “boil-and-bite” method permits custom molding to individual dental profiles.

Includes:

  • Somnofit-S mouth guard unit (upper & lower tray)
  • Set of five adjustment straps
  • Impression plate for molding fit
  • Heat-activated “boil-and-bite” customization components
  • Storage box / carry case
  • Instruction manual
  • Test the included small, medium, and large cushions to find the most comfortable and secure fit. A proper fit helps reduce leaks and ensures the jaw stays in the right position.
  • Use the boil-and-bite method carefully. If the fit feels off, you can remold the device more than once until it matches your dental profile.
  • Clean the mouth guard daily with CPAP mask wipes to remove saliva and bacteria buildup after each night.
  • Once a week, wash the trays with mild soap like the Neutralizing Pre-Wash and warm water. Avoid harsh cleaners that can damage the polymer material.
  • Store the device in the included case after cleaning to protect it from dust and bacteria. For added hygiene, you can also sanitize it periodically with a UVC CPAP sanitizer.
  • Inspect the elastic adjustment straps regularly. If they become stretched or lose tension, use the Part Finder tool to locate compatible replacements.
  • If you experience gum or skin irritation around the mouth, apply a thin layer of Ritual Moisturizer before wearing the device.
  • Give yourself time to adapt, most people adjust to mandibular advancement devices within 2–4 weeks. Start by wearing it for part of the night, then extend gradually.
  • If you combine the Somnofit-S with CPAP therapy, consider a CPAP pillow to minimize mask displacement and improve comfort when side sleeping.
  • Avoid storing the device in hot or humid environments, as high heat can warp the polymer structure. Keep it in a cool, ventilated space.
  • Schedule regular dental checkups while using the device. Long-term use of mandibular advancement devices can sometimes cause bite changes or minor tooth movement.
  • Track improvements in snoring and sleep quality. If symptoms persist, consult your healthcare provider about combining the Somnofit-S with a CPAP machine for stronger therapy support.

Product Features

What Somnofit-S Is

Somnofit-S is an FDA-cleared mandibular advancement device designed to reduce snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It works by gently repositioning your lower jaw forward with adjustable elastic bands, widening the upper airway during sleep. Its compact design and custom boil-and-bite fit make it smaller and more discreet than traditional oral appliances.

Who Somnofit-S Is For

This device is intended for adults who experience chronic snoring or have been diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It can be an option if you cannot tolerate CPAP therapy or prefer a non-powered alternative. It is not recommended for children, people with severe sleep apnea, or those with significant dental or jaw issues.

Swiss-Made Quality Materials

Manufactured in Switzerland, the device uses high-grade medical polymers that are BPA-free and latex-free. These materials are durable, safe for long-term oral use, and resistant to discoloration. The high-quality construction is designed to hold its shape after repeated use and cleaning cycles.

FDA-Cleared Mandibular Advancement Device

Somnofit-S is an FDA-cleared mandibular advancement device (MAD) designed to reduce snoring and support breathing by shifting the lower jaw forward. It offers a non-powered alternative to CPAP for managing mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea and heavy snoring.

Boil-And-Bite Custom Fit Technology

Uses a boil-and-bite molding system for at-home customization. The mouthpiece softens in hot water, then forms to your dental structure when bitten. If needed, it can be reheated and remolded to improve comfort and fit.

Adjustable Straps for Jaw Advancement Control

Includes multiple elastic straps with varying tension levels. These control the degree of mandibular advancement, allowing progressive adaptation. Users start with lower tension bands and increase as needed to achieve balance between comfort and efficacy.

High-Quality Swiss Materials

Made in Switzerland from BPA-free and latex-free biomedical polymers. The device is compact and lightweight compared to traditional oral appliances, contributing to greater overnight comfort and easier wear.

Speech & Drink Friendly

Slim design and flexible band system allow you to speak clearly and drink small amounts of water while wearing it. The compact profile reduces bulk and makes it less intrusive during nighttime use.

Rapid Impact on Snoring & Sleep Quality

Clinical reports show that many users experience a noticeable reduction in snoring from the first night. The forward positioning of the jaw helps keep airways open, improving breathing stability and sleep quality.

Suitable for Mild to Moderate OSA or Heavy Snoring

Intended for adults with chronic snoring or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Not suitable for individuals with temporomandibular joint disorders, loose teeth, or other dental conditions that could interfere with device use.

Reusable for Several Months With Care

Designed for extended use when properly maintained. Requires daily rinsing, occasional soaking in denture cleaner, and regular inspection of strap integrity. Replaceable straps extend the functional life of the device.

Adjustable Advancement System

Features five elastic bands with increasing tension levels for controlled mandibular advancement. This modular system allows users to incrementally increase support based on comfort and therapy needs over time.

Find Solution

Is a mandibular advancement device as effective as CPAP for mild to moderate sleep apnea?

For many people with mild to moderate OSA, mandibular advancement devices (MADs) can reduce apnea events and improve daytime sleepiness almost as well as CPAP. CPAP remains the gold standard for severe cases, but MADs are an effective alternative when CPAP cannot be tolerated.

What side effects can I experience when using a MAD?

Short-term effects may include jaw discomfort, tooth soreness, extra saliva, or gum irritation. These often improve as you adapt. Long-term use can sometimes cause bite changes or tooth movement, so regular dental checkups are important.

How long does it take to get used to wearing a MAD?

Most people adjust within two to four weeks. It can help to wear the device for part of the night at first, then gradually increase usage until it feels natural to keep it in place all night.

Does using a MAD affect my teeth or bite?

Over time, some people notice bite changes or slight tooth shifting because the device holds the jaw forward every night. Monitoring by a dental professional can help prevent or manage these changes.

Can I talk or drink while wearing a MAD?

Yes, many devices allow limited speech and small sips of water. Slim, low-profile designs are easier to wear while talking briefly or drinking without removing the appliance.

Are there people who shouldn’t use a MAD?

These devices are not recommended for children, people with severe sleep apnea, untreated dental problems, loose teeth, or jaw joint disorders. A healthcare provider should confirm if a MAD is appropriate before starting therapy.

How do I clean and maintain a MAD device safely?

Rinse it after each use and wash it weekly with mild soap and warm water. Avoid harsh cleaners. If the device uses elastic straps, check them for stretching and replace them if needed to maintain performance.

Will insurance cover a mandibular advancement device?

Many insurance plans provide coverage when the device is prescribed as medically necessary for sleep apnea. Requirements usually include a sleep study diagnosis and fitting by a licensed provider. Coverage may vary, so it’s best to confirm with your insurer.

How often should I replace a MAD device or its parts?

With proper care, devices often last several months to a year or more. Components like elastic straps may need replacement sooner if they lose tension. Some devices can be remolded for fit if necessary.

What improvement in sleep quality or snoring can I expect?

Many people notice reduced snoring, more stable breathing, and better sleep quality within the first nights of use. Improvements depend on severity of the condition, correct fit, and consistent nightly use.
